Boy Scout Class A Uniform (Field Uniform)
The Class A uniform—officially called the Field Uniform—is the full, formal Boy Scouts of America uniform.
It typically includes:
- Tan BSA button‑down shirt with patches and insignia
- Official BSA pants or shorts
- Belt, socks, and neckerchief (if the troop uses one)
- Optional: merit badge sash, hat, or other troop‑approved uniform items
It’s worn for ceremonies, meetings, formal events, boards of review, campfires, and travel.
Boy Scout Class B Uniform (Activity Uniform)
The Class B uniform—officially the Activity Uniform—is the more casual version.
It usually includes:
- A troop or BSA‑branded T‑shirt
- BSA shorts/pants
- Belt and socks (optional depending on the troop)
This uniform is worn for campouts, service projects, outdoor activities, and situations where the Class A might get dirty or damaged.
