Pack 262 Crossover

On March 21, 2022 Pack 262 had a crossover, in which Troop 834 participated. We happily welcome our new scouts: Anthony, Chas, Isaac, John, Matthew, Nico, and Patrick!

Robinson Mall Recruitment Event

At Robinson Mall Troop 834 participated in a contest for the best recruiting table . The scouts answered questions that judges asked them, and because of their fantastic answers, showing their knowledge of the troop and of scouting, Troop 834 received a trophy for the best recruiting table . Thanks to everyone who participated!

New form for Parents to sign

There is a new clearance/waiver required by Laural Highlands Scout Council: PA Resident Volunteer Verification

Please print a copy and sign. You can either scan and email to Trish (email here – preferred to make her life easier) or bring the signed copy to a meeting for Trish.

Holiday Auction

Before Thanksgiving, we had a holiday auction to raise funds for our troop. The scouts had a good time bidding for unknown items and had some refreshments with it. Thanks to everyone for helping and participating in a successful auction.

November Recruitment Event

Troop 834 had a November Recruitment Day to show potential new scouts what activities we do. The activities included axe throwing, slingshots, and archery. Many potential scouts participated in the events and had a great time meeting the scouts and adults of Troop 834. Thanks to all of the adults that helped out with refreshments on that cold day. Those snacks and drinks really warmed us up!

Community Service Project Opportunity

A community service activity is available if any scouts can help out.  This is a great opportunity to help a local organization, connect with kids, get service hours and have a lot of fun doing it!

What: South Park Children’s Theater is putting on 2 more plays for this year. These are shows geared toward children and will be on their outdoor theater stage.  For these performances since it’s a bit chilly out these days they have a few outdoor fire pits going in the parking lot about an hour before the play starts and they offer Smore’s kits free to the kids and parents.

They have asked our scout troop if we could assist with making the fires and keeping watch over the fires for that hour preceding the play.  The theater will supply everything needed, they just need someone experienced in fires!

In addition to helping out, you can stay and watch the performance for free, what a deal!

When: There are several performances needed so you can pick a date that is good for you:

Show 1:

  1. October 22 – 6pm (be there at 5pm)
  2. October 23 – 2pm (be there at 12:45pm)
  3. October 23 – 6pm (be there at 5pm)
  4. October 24 – 2pm (be there at 12:45pm)

Show 2:

  1. November 12 – 6pm (be there at 5pm)
  2. November 13 – 2pm (be there at 12:45pm)
  3. November 13 – 6pm (be there at 5pm)
  4. November 14 – 2pm (be there at 12:45pm)
  5. November 19 – 6pm (be there at 5pm)
  6. November 20 – 2pm (be there at 12:45pm)
  7. November 20 – 6pm (be there at 5pm)
  8. November 21 – 2pm (be there at 12:45pm)

Please reply via email with dates/times you would like to assist so we can schedule with the theater as they would like to ensure all the spots are filled with one person to help.  Also, the theater will have someone there that can assist and will be responsible. They really just need a hand as they are a volunteer based organization and have very limited resources.

Octoberfest Recruiting

A quick shout out and thanks to some of our scouts for their awesome afternoon of activities and help while recruiting at the 2021 Octoberfest located at Scott Park on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Activities included: throwing darts at the balloon board, a water bottle flip, milk jug bowling, and of course cornhole!  Many scouts and parents helped throughout the day to make this an exciting and fun event for everyone. Nice job Troop 834!

Great Job PJ and Dom

Do a good turn daily and Support your community!   These are 2 of the hallmarks of Scouting values instilled through Boy Scouting.  As a good example of this it’s nice to see PJ and Dom showcase these traits as they took the lead at their school recently when the school had a 9/11 remembrance ceremony.  The 2 scouts were asked to assist a local veteran in unfolding and raising the American Flag in front of the whole school.

Our hats off to PJ and Dom for a great job representing the true qualities scouting!
