Boy Scout Troop 834 congratulates David Hand, of Bridgeville, on achieving the rank of Eagle Scout on Feb 7, 2023
David (CVSD 2023) is the son of Tom and Liz Hand and the brother of Lucy (CVSD 2018) and Niles (CVSD 2016 and a fellow Eagle Scout). He is a member of Boy Scout Troop 834, now chartered at New Life Church in Bridgeville.
To earn the rank of Eagle Scout, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges and demonstrate leadership and community service by organizing and carrying out an Eagle project. For his project, David refurbished and updated meeting spaces at Corpus Christi Parish’s Assumption Hall. This much needed update allowed the Parish to have two new handicapped accessible meeting spaces.
As a senior at Chartiers Valley, David is a 4 year member of the Showband, concert band, jazz band and a member of the National Honor Society. This year, David serves as drumline captain and band treasurer. After graduation, David plans to attend a 4 year university majoring in engineering.
Our Laurel Highlands Council offers merit badge classes at Camp Guyasuta for scouts to attend short sessions and get a merit badge. Take a look below at classes offered locally at Camp Guyasuta.

At Robinson Mall Troop 834 participated in a contest for the best recruiting table . The scouts answered questions that judges asked them, and because of their fantastic answers, showing their knowledge of the troop and of scouting, Troop 834 received a trophy for the best recruiting table . Thanks to everyone who participated!
There is a new clearance/waiver required by Laural Highlands Scout Council: PA Resident Volunteer Verification

Before Thanksgiving, we had a holiday auction to raise funds for our troop. The scouts had a good time bidding for unknown items and had some refreshments with it. Thanks to everyone for helping and participating in a successful auction.
Troop 834 had a November Recruitment Day to show potential new scouts what activities we do. The activities included axe throwing, slingshots, and archery. Many potential scouts participated in the events and had a great time meeting the scouts and adults of Troop 834. Thanks to all of the adults that helped out with refreshments on that cold day. Those snacks and drinks really warmed us up!
